The number of cosmetic procedures carried out each year continues to grow. Statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reveal that between the years 2000 and 2017, minimally invasive cosmetic procedures increased by 200%.

More than 740,000 cases of non-invasive microdermabrasion surgery were performed in the States last year as it’s a surgery proven to enhance your appearance. But is there more to this microdermabrasion trend than meets the eye?

   • Risk-Free Procedure

As microdermabrasion is a non-invasive surgery it is risk-free. The procedure usually takes less than an hour and uses fines crystals to remove the superficial layer of dead skin cells on your face caused from chemicals in cosmetics and soaps and from being exposed to environmental conditions. Microdermabrasion is often referred to as a facial treatment and will improve your overall appearance and the condition of the skin.

Dull skin, whiteheads, blackheads, pigmentation patches, fines lines and wrinkles can all be improved as a result of microdermabrasion sessions. It’s most commonly used on the face, although, the hands, neck, back and chest areas can all benefit from the non-invasive procedure.

   • Celebrity Endorsement

Each day the nation is presented with photo after photo of celebrities sporting gorgeous, glowing skin. Dermatologist, Dr Susan Evans, says that she insists her A-list clients have microdermabrasion treatments to assist with restoring their skin’s glow.

“I insist on exfoliation, even if you have dry skin.” She goes onto say, “You have to remove old layers first before products can really penetrate.” With numerous big Hollywood names reportedly having microdermabrasion before big photo shoots and publicized events, it’s no wonder that so many people are turning to the non-invasive treatment.

   • Low-Cost Option

An invasive cosmetic procedure costs thousands. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons advises that a facelift in America costs an average figure of $7,448. Whereas, in Spain, the average cost is €5,138. In contrast, microdermabrasion costs just $137 per session. With personal debt in the western world sky high, many can’t afford to take out an additional loan to cover the cost of invasive surgery, but it’s much easier for them to source the funds for a cost-friendly microdermabrasion treatment.

Microdermabrasion surgery is set to replace invasive facial treatments as it’s a safe and risk-free option for the millions of individuals who have surgery each year. Many celebrities swear by the procedure and this, along with its low price, will encourage more and more individuals to utilize the non-invasive facial procedure in the future.

How’s about you? Are you getting any treatment done on a regular base? Do you think it’s okay to make use of any facial cosmetic surgery treatment at all? How could there be anything wrong with looking amazing?!
