Can I Speed Up My Weight Loss?

Weight loss has always been a tricky subject for people. Some people try to lose weight in a matter of weeks or months, but end up piling it all back on after a short period of time. This is because they took up a routine that wasn’t sustainable for them, and more than likely unhealthy. Can I speed up my weight loss? Yes, you can speed up weight loss, but you should never try to do it in an extreme way. You’ll always get the best results if you give yourself plenty of time to reach your goals. Here’s how you can speed up your weight loss safely and enjoy the best results:

Cut your Calories Slightly

Losing weight isn’t all about calories. You’ll get better results if you begin to monitor the amount of protein, fats, and carbs you’re taking in. By doing that, you’ll change your body composition and shape up much better. That being said, when you’re looking at weight loss and getting smaller, calories do play a part. Cutting your calories is a must if you want weight loss.

However, you need to do this with caution. Doing it too quickly could result in metabolic damage, so you want to decrease them slowly. If you decrease your intake by 200 calories and begin losing weight like that, keep going until you need to decrease them slightly again. It makes no sense doing it all at once, or you could plateau too early and stop getting results. Cut them bit by bit. It depends on your height, weight, and gender, but you should never go past a certain point. So, for a 140-pound woman, you shouldn’t go any lower than 1400 calories. If you do, you could put your body into starvation mode. Then you’ll pile the weight back on!

Do a Little More Cardio

Cardio will help you to burn more fat and calories, but don’t do too much of it. You can do a little every day, but try not to do any more than 45 minutes. The longer the session, the steadier you should go. Short but intense sessions are great if you’re short on time. They burn fat for hours after you stop. Too much cardio and your body will have no shape, as it’ll eat all of your muscle. Read more about good cardio conditioning here: 10 Simple 30 Minute Cardio Workouts For Home

Make Your Rest Periods Shorter

You could up the intensity of your workouts by simply knocking a few seconds off your rest periods. Instead of resting for a minute between sprints, rest for 45 seconds. The same applies for resistance training for weight loss. Keep your eye on the clock and you’ll encourage your body to burn fat faster.

Take Helpful Supplements

There are hundreds of supplements you can take. There’s ZMA (Wikipedia) if you struggle to rest. Multivitamins, green tea extract…there are all kinds. They can speed it up, but you need to do the work!

Detox Your Body

Crazy detoxes aren’t a great way to lose weight. You can detox your body with hot detox baths, and sauna sessions instead. They will clear out your pores and help you to drop any water weight you’ve been holding on to.

Prudent advice.. some people go for the kill the fastest route, thus, the results are not only sustainable but risky as well. People need to learn the art of patience and waiting. Small steps at a time brings us to our goal, small victories can lead to bigger victories.

Interesting Topic! When I needed to lose weight 2 years ago, I did most of your recommended to do’s here. First, I really needed an exercise. When I went back to the gym and tried the treadmill, I got really dizzy because of exhaustion. Second, to support my weight loss program, I had to buy a supplement that burns all my fats and turns them to energy. That supplement also helped cut my appetite so I saw some results there. Third, making sure I finish my exercises in 1 1/2 hrs.

You have great tips here. I used to go to a sauna and it was one of the best ways indeed to reduce water retention.

I am now trying to shed some weight off because I’ve stopped exercising and my tummy is getting big again. I don’t really grow big but don’t like the excess fats on my body.

What I learned about weight loss is, no amount of exercise will help if you are not careful about what you eat.

Food is one of the most important factors when we talk about weightloss. It can take as much as 80% food and 20% exercise, so it’s really important to make sure you eat healthy foods. Even if you cut down the calories, you should replace fries with salad for example, as a side for a lean stake. There are also a lot of power foods that can help burn fat faster, like avocado or spinach. Also, a good trainer at the gym can provide an exercise routine that will help burn more calories.

I agree that losing weight quickly is really not safe and sustainable. For one to be really fit and healthy, a combination of right food and exercise must be done. The kinds of food that we eat really has a big impact on our health. It is not just enough to cut on carbs. A balanced diet is really a must. 🙂

This is one of the great posts I’ve read about losing weight. It’s good to know that there are a combination of ways we can adapt to manage weight loss. We all have different body types and different lifestyle that’s why it’s important to choose the ones that will work for us. You’re right we should stick to something that we can sustain, something we can keep as a lifestyle.

Speeding up / rushing weight loss is a common mistake that most people do. When it comes to losing weight, there re no short cuts. It always takes a good diet, healthy lifestyle, and exercise. It’s a lot of work and a lot of discipline. The results of fad diets and crazy detoxes are immediate but never long term.

This post is just what I really need right now. I feel like I’m going plateau already, or maybe I haven’t exerted much effort into losing weight. I’ve been at this for months and I feel like there’s no result. In fact, I feel like I’ve bloated compared to the last few months. 🙁 I will keep this advice in mind and plan out my weight loss. Thank you so much for sharing such valuable piece of advice!

Ehh I wish I could say I’m a fan of this post but I’m not. Suggesting detox baths and supplements to speed up weight loss? C’mon now…

What about eliminating carbs? Or processed foods? Upping your water intake?

Ya know, healthy ways to boost your weight loss AND keep it off?

Hi. I agree with food advise on losing weight. I would like to add to the following:

1. Food. As you cut down on food and replace it with healthy balanced meals, go for low-glycemic.

2. Exercise. Food itself, not matter how healthy and balanced does not provide optimal nutrition, and more often, lacks certain nutrients. By adding physical activities, there’s a need for more nutrients. As work load increases, so does the need for these nutrients. The lack of leads to long term health concerns.

It has already been two years since I started losing weight. I had deliberately spread the time frame and had lost 40 pounds (more or less) by managing my weight loss. Losing weight fast is another reason for long term health concerns.

Note: No matter what kind of food is taken for its weight loss properties, remember too that for the body to utilize the specific compound, the body also has to get rid of others, putting more strain on the kidney and liver. This is why extracts are better than the so called natural ways. For example. It is good to drink tea, and certain teas have their distinct benefits. At the same time, think of the other materials that comes with the tea (residues) that needs to be filtered and flushed out of the body.

Interestiing! I’ve never taken that supplement, I take green tea extract or eccg, I need to get back on track for sure.
