Exploring the cultural heritage of a country is one of the most amazing things about travelling. Going to a country completely different to your own and taking a trip into its past is fascinating, especially in places that were once home to some of the biggest ancient civilizations in the world. While these people might be gone, the cities that they built still remain, and you can go and see them today. Here is a list of the best ancient cities in the world.
Alexandria was once the centre of all knowledge in the world. So many of the buildings and monuments from the medieval period have been lost completely, so it’s rare to find a city that is as well preserved as Prague In fact, it’s one of the best historically preserved cities in the world, with most of the buildings still in use. The city is home to some great points of interest like the world’s oldest astronomical clock, and the site of the first ever pilsner beer, which a lot of people mistakenly think is in Germany.
On top of that, it’s also worth visiting the impressive Prague Castle. Even though it has all of those old buildings and monuments, the city itself is actually a very modern, vibrant place to visit. In recent years it has become incredibly popular with visitors from all over the world.
