5 Career Ideas That Are Actually Fun & Still Pay Good Money
Being a stay-at-home mom can be very rewarding. You get to spend a lot of time with your children and see them grow. However, at some point, you might want to do something else and make some extra cash in the process. Here are five wonderful ideas how to do that.
1. Start a Blog to Make Money
When you’re at home with your kids most of the time, you don’t really get the chance to communicate with other adults besides other moms in the park. This is sometimes difficult. Just because you have a family to take care of doesn’t mean you’ve got nothing to say. So, starting a blog to make money could be the perfect solution.
Whatever your life experiences are and whatever messages you want to send to the world, there are surely people on the internet who will be interested in learning from them. Maybe you’re a great cook and you’d like to share your skills with others. Perhaps you’ve come up with some great games and activities for children and their parents. The possibilities are limitless. So, how to start a blog to make money from it? All you need is a computer, internet connection and some writing skills, and if you’re good at it, you could make a nice amount of money by advertising on your blog.
2. Get Paid to Take Online Surveys
This is another great way for you to let your voice be heard and state your opinion on various things. You really don’t need any experience or special equipment for this one. Also, you can work for as many hours as you can or want every day. So, you can easily get paid to take online surveys, all the while having fun and being there for your children at any given moment.
You can even do it while relaxing with a cup of coffee or tea. This is a great source of additional income for busy moms who can’t really leave the house whenever they want to. Plus you can get paid in cash, which is another great perk of this job.
3. Sell your Crafts
If you’re a creative person and you can make nice accessories of any kind, this is a great opportunity for you to fill in any budget holes. If you know how to knit or sew (yeeah, knitting is back! ) you can sell scarves, beanie hats, sweaters or any other type of clothes online. Or maybe you’re good at decorating cakes, making jewellery, Christmas arts crafts, or, even better, children’s toys.
Whatever it is, there’s a market for it online, and once you get started, who knows, maybe you can even rent a stand in a holiday market and sell your creations there.
Not only will this allow you to make money, but it could also be a great chance to get out of the house for a while and meet some new people. Plus, the very process of making crafts will most likely be very enjoyable.
4. Become a Pet Sitter
You take your kids out for walks or playtime in the park every day. They love it and being in outdoors is good for them too. If you like animals, bringing along a dog could actually be a lot of fun for you and your children. There are many health and emotional benefits of having pets around your children, and one of the benefits for you could be getting paid for it. You can even watch somebody’s cat or parrot, as long as your little ones know how to behave around animals. It’s a great way to earn some cash while teaching your children about empathy and responsibility.
5. Host Exchange Students
There are two conditions for this one. First, your house should be near a college or university campus, preferably within walking distance, but several bus stops away will be fine too. Second, you’ll need an extra room, with an en-suite if possible. This type of arrangement could help a lot with your budget, but it could also be a great experience for you. Foreign students will be happy to stay with a nice family where they can improve their English and learn about your customs. In return, you could enjoy having conversations with somebody from another culture.
You’ll probably have to make a meal or two every day, but you do it for your kids anyway. So, just increase the amount you make, and you’ll do fine. So, even if you’re a great mom and you’re doing an amazing job with your family, don’t hesitate to show there’s more to you. You can do anything you set your mind to and you’ll feel fantastic once the money starts coming in. Now that you’ve been handed the guidelines on how to do it, waste no more time. Ready, steady, go!
